Another Nominee

My next nominee for the Be-More-John-Olguin Award goes to someone who I completely disagree with concerning the current plans (and possible future plans) for Ponte Vista as San Pedro.

However, I won't use my opposite opinion to keep this deserving gentleman for being included in my list of nominees. Everyone can have their own lists, and my list adds Mr. Louis Dominguez to its growing roll.

One look at the bridge on any given evening should make you want to thank Mr. Dominguez for his incredible efforts over so many years to get lighting for the bridge. The work Mr. Dominguez has done on just that one project, involved more volunteer time and effort than most folks do in a lifetime.

Louis Dominguez should not be known for just the lighting of the bridge, however. Mr. Dominguez has volunteered his time, expertise and services to many concerns in OUR community.

Whether it was leading the Free Clinic, to giving aid to the Golden State Pops Orchestra, to working with students to develope their skills in computing and photography, these are only some of the interests Mr. Dominguez has helped many folks with, over many years.

Some of Mr. Dominguez's recent volunteer efforts has been to co-chair the Ponte Vista Advisory Boards set up by Bob Bisno's company. In his volunteer efforts, he supports those wishing for a large development of condominiums to be built in northwest San Pedro.

I do not believe that Mr. Dominguez's support for Ponte Vista and his volunteer efforts on its behalf outweigh the many volunteer projects he has been associated with.

Actually, Mr. Dominguez is volunteering a great amount of time and energy to bring a national convention to San Pedro, related to his and many others' service to our country while in the military. Bringing a national convention to the San Pedro area will benefit the entire area as we welcome attendees and their families to our great community. I applaud Louis Dominguez's efforts to help all of us not forget those who served our country, and honor them as best we can.

Please remember all the great volunteer efforts Mr. Dominguez has given to so many people before you chide him on his support for Bob Bisno. Mr. Dominguez believes he is helping other supporters of Bob's.
