This post is hypothetical and as such, if you wish to check facts concerning this post, please have yourself a really good time.
Suppose a city like Torrance had Senior Housing developments built recently. Suppose most, if not all were built on commercially zoned property before development began.
Think about how a city like Torrance for example, would like to take a closed supermarket, let's say near the corner of Cabrillo and Sepulveda, and have Senior Housing replace the blighted area.
Now suppose not all of the Senior Housing units in all of Torrance are not really selling like hotcakes.
Might one suppose that the market for Senior Housing units in the South Bay is not as strong as even I thought it might have been by all the seniors wanting such type units at Ponte Vista?
Should you wonder that the City of Torrance, wishing to recover blighted commercial properties might want Senior Housing developments to cover areas in commercial areas that have fallen on hard times?
Now imagine a development planned for San Pedro that is having financial problems getting really started. Please don't imagine that development to be Ponte Vista, but another development in downtown San Pedro.
Have you been imagining that not all the units in the various already built new units in San Pedro are still left unsold?
What about the area south of 9th Street, near Centre street that was thought, at one time, to be prime areas to build large condominium developments. Where do you think all those developers are? It seems they are not knocking down all the doors to develope properties in that area.
If a group claims that San Pedro needs "3000 new housing units", wouldn't you think that all the current brand new units would have all been snapped up already?
Gee, golly, maybe, just maybe, OUR community doesn't need all the units some believe are necessary and seem to be "demanding" from us.
What cost should all of us pay for any speculation on any "real" need for more housing?
Should we mortgage OUR community's future on folks like Bisno and others who may want to over develope OUR community?
This post is about hypotheticals and opinions and guesses, and will probably be slammed by "Tom Field" and others, just wait for their attacks and belittling comments. "Tom" is so enraged and trapped by now, that is about all he can do, at this time.
Rational, reasonable, responsible, and respectful people like the vast majority of readers to this blog are perfectly capable of forming their own opinions and thinking for themselves, what really is best for OUR community.
OUR community probably doesn't have enough vacant commercial properties to allow for what Torrance did, in my opinion.
How many folks have seen large Senior Housing developments in residential areas of Torrance? Are there any? Are there many?
Torrance seems to have finally built Senior Housing that thier community members have been asking for, for a very long time. Some to many of those units are still unsold.
Would it be so hard for seniors living in OUR community to stop crying that they would have to move to Hemet or elsewhere to find Senior Housing that meets their needs, and consider the short trip to Torrance to live.
This brings to mind a real problem for seniors from our community moving to units in Torrance. To visit relatives and friends in San Pedro, they would probably have to use Western Avenue and that would create a nightmare for many of them such as they are't willing to give up their big houses at this time.
Now remember, "Tom", no facts were presented here so you can't challenge me on any "facts" on this post.
